Arlene C. Strong Pinkerton

July 30, 1916 - October 4, 2016

Arlene C. Pinkerton, a.k.a., Arlene C. Strong, who was proud to have reached 100 years old, left us on October 4, 2016. She died peacefully at home with family and her cat, just as she wanted it.

Arlene moved to Tiburon in 1978, after meeting her soon-to-be husband, Roy Pinkerton, on a cruise ship. Arlene loved to volunteer to help others. She used her love and knowledge of nursing to volunteer at Marin General Hospital. The Tiburon Thrift Shop allowed Arlene to show her "tell it like it is" personality to customers and fellow volunteers.

Competitiveness flowed through Arlene on the Belvedere Tennis Club courts in both team and friendly matches. She was just as determined on the golf course, with her first husband, Lou Strong, a golf professional.
Arlene truly enjoyed the Belvedere-Tiburon Library. She rented so many books and movies that she developed her own indexing system so she could stop renting the same items. The monthly tea at the library was an event she always looked forward to attending.

Arlene is survived by one daughter, Donna; five grandchildren, Lisa, John, Eric, Nathan, and Kalie; her great-granddaughter, Isabelle; and many wonderful friends.

At Arlene's request, there will not be a service. Memorial contributions may be sent to a favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
