Neil Parker Berling

Neil Parker Berling, DDS passed away in his home on February 18, 2015 in Marin County, California at 68 years.

Neil was born September 20, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents Charles Joseph Berling Sr. and Betty Jane Creedon. After graduating from Purdue University, where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity, he married Barbara Allen on March 8th, 1969. The two moved to San Francisco, where he attended University of the Pacific Dental School. After obtaining his DDS, Neil set up his practice at 450 Sutter St., where he grew the business through his caring relationships with patients. He retired after 30 years of unparalleled service, and was able to dedicate his time to his family, and to the total renovation of two historical arks in Belvedere, where he had lived since 1976. He was also a member of San Francisco Yacht Club for over 40 years.

Neil was a beloved coach and major contributor to Tiburon Peninsula youth athletics. He dedicated his life to raising his two sons Seth and Parker, coaching them in every sport from basketball to soccer to baseball. He drew great happiness from teaching them his personal passions, how to fly-fish and sail, creating wonderful and lasting memories in the process. He will live on through these passions, and the great sense of adventure that he ignited in his sons. Neil loved spending time with his family, and traveling the open road in search of the wild rivers of the West.
He is survived by wife Barbara Berling; sons Seth Berling and Parker Berling; brother Charles Joseph Berling Jr.; sister Annie Hunt Bass; niece Harmony Vallejo; nephew Andy Berling and mother Betty Jane Creedon.
The memorial service will be open to the public and will be held at The San Francisco Yacht Club, 98 Beach Road, Belvedere, CA on Thursday, March 5th at 2:00pm.
