Jack Cooper

Jack Raymond Cooper, a former commodore of the Corinthian Yacht Club, died Nov. 25, 2013, after a long illness. He was 88.

Born in San Francisco to Isidore and Sarah Cooper, Mr. Cooper graduated from Lowell High School in 1943 and — with his parents' consent, as he was not yet 18 — enlisted in the U.S. Navy as the U.S. entered World War II. He served in the Pacific.

On his return, Mr. Cooper went into real estate and became a successful real estate appraiser and mortgage broker. He retired in 1995.

He and his wife had lived in Tiburon about 40 years. He was a life member of the Corinthian Yacht Club and served as commodore in 1978.

Mr. Cooper's wife, Bertha, died in 2010. His two sisters, Ellen Sarver and Audrey Schneider, also predeceased him.

A celebration of his life will be held 3-5 p.m. Jan. 17 at the yacht club. To attend, call 388-2511. Donations in his memory may be sent to Corinthian Yacht Club, 43 Main St., Tiburon, CA 94920.
