Chris Coster

Our beloved Chris Coster passed away on September 24, 2015, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was 48 years old.
Chris was widely admired for both his dynamic flair as a restauranteur and his creative, personal touch as a chef.
Chris met Mary Grant in 1988; the couple married in 1993. In 1995, after nearly ten years as a restaurant owner, Chris chose to leave the business to follow a career in the automotive industry in San Francisco. Mary pursued her art and worked at SFMOMA. Chris quickly succeeded in this endeavor, easily acquiring new skills and knowledge, with an interest in high performance cars.
In July of 1999, much to Chris and Mary's delight, their son, Jackson Grant Coster, was born. In 2003, Chris, Mary, and Jackson relocated to Scottsdale, Arizona, so Chris might further his auto career as GSM of a large Mercedes store. Later Chris managed Los Gatos Luxury Cars. His son Jackson loved to go to work on weekends with his dad.
Throughout their marriage, Chris enjoyed his adventurous and unscripted road trips with Mary and Jackson. He also reveled in opening his home to friends both new and old. He frequently cooked for friends and family, and it was during these times that Chris was most joyful and engaged. Above and beyond all else, Chris loved being a father to his son, Jackson.
Chris leaves behind his beloved son, Jackson; his former wife, Mary Grant of Mill Valley, CA; his parents, Linda and Jay Coster of Ashland, Oregon; his brothers, Garin, Trevor, and Cameron; and the Grant family of Sun Valley, Idaho. All will cherish their memories of Chris and will deeply miss his presence in their lives.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the college fund established for his son, Jackson, www.chriscostermemorial.mydagsite.com.
A Memorial Service will be held November 8th at 2pm at the Community Congregational Church, 145 Rock Hill Drive, Tiburon.
