John Leszczynski

John Leszczynski, 97, of Needham, Mass., and Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Hicksville, NY, passed away February 1, 2016. He was the beloved husband for 63 years of Felicia A. (Kogut) Leszczynski and loving father of John Leszczynski and his wife, Bente Larsen, of Tiburon, CA, and Jeanne Leszczynski and her partner, Diane DiCarlo, of Needham. He was the brother of Wladek of Floral Park, NY, and the late Frank, Beatrice, Helen, Sue, Vincent, Joseph, Walenty and Regina and grandfather of Nikolaj, Alex and Sander Leszczynski of Tiburon, CA. He was the uncle of Barbara and Laura and many other nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friends, Hulio, Tammy and Pancho.
Mr. Leszczynski was a US Army World War II veteran, having served in Okinawa and Leyte Gulf in the Philippines and was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired as cement mason foreman for Eureka Construction in New York City and worked on the restoration of the Statue of Liberty in the mid 80's. He was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans and the Polish American Pulaski Association, and was the world's best Polka dancer.
A funeral service was held in the Needham, Mass., February 4; he was interred with military honors at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
