Edith Falvey Willat

Edith Falvey Willat passed away peacefully on September 20, 2015. She was born in San Rafael, California, in 1925. After completing her senior year at San Dominico High School as valedictorian in 1944, she married her high school sweetheart and childhood neighbor from across the street, Leon F. Willat. They shared 71 loving years of marriage. They raised four children: Carol-Lee, Nicole (1948-2010), Lydia and Tamara. Edith and Leon built with their own hands a gracious and grand half-timber brick house, designed by George Olson. Their beautiful home in the Tiburon Hills overlooked their beloved San Francisco Bay.
Edith ran L'Enfant, a home daycare center, in their house for 20 years. While in her sixties she took up art, drawing her daycare children, then landscapes around Marin and captured in paint her many travels around the world.
Edith is a direct descendant of the McCurdys, a ranching family that settled Bolinas, California, and the Falveys, a ranching family that settled Livermore. Both ranches are from the 1850's.
The memorial will be held October.
In lieu of flowers, please send a contribution to John Ritter Foundation for Aortic Health or The Nature Conservancy.
Please e-mail carol-lee123@att.net for memorial information and to let us know you will be attending.
