Mette Krenz

Mette Matheson Krenz, a four-year resident of Tiburon, died August 13, 2010, after a year-long battle with cancer. She was 75.

Mrs. Krenz was a native of Norway. She grew up in Oslo and went to Paris to study languages. She worked for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) as an interpreter and came to the United States to learn English. She never left. She met her husband in San Pedro and they started a family. They moved to Darien, Connecticut and she remained there until her husband passed away. She was a longtime, very active volunteer for the Darien Arts Council and was very involved in its theater productions.

She moved to Tiburon to be close to her son and his family in 2006. While she lived in Tiburon, she was a volunteer at the American Cancer Society’s Discovery Shop at the Alto Shopping Center in Mill Valley.

Mr. Krenz died in 1983. Mrs. Krenz is survived by one son, William Matheson Krenz of Mill Valley; two grandchildren, Spencer and Max; a sister, Nina Matheson of Oslo; and many nieces and nephews.

A gathering will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 3, at The Caprice Restaurant. Donations in her memory may be sent to the ACS Discovery Shop, 716 E. Blithedale Ave., Mill Valley, CA 94941.
