‘Families belong together’

Tiburon’s Gee Campmeyer (second right) and her daughter, Lisa (right), were among the estimated 1,000 demonstrators who gathered at the Marin Civic Center on June 20 to protest the Trump administration’s immigration policy of separating children from their parents at the border. After political pressure, President Donald Trump that day signed an executive order intended to end the policy and instead detain parents and children together indefinitely, though it’s unclear whether the administration has the authority to enact indefinite detainment. It’s estimated some 2,300 children have already been separated from their parents under the ‘zero-tolerance’ policy.
