Tam school district changes course, will pursue short-term parcel tax on ballot

The Tamalpais Union High School District has decided not to roll the dice on a proposed 12-year, 50-percent parcel-tax increase and will instead go into the November election with what it hopes is a more voter-friendly measure: a four-year supplemental tax aimed at helping the financially troubled district correct course. The district board on July 30 voted 4-1, with board member Michael Futterman dissenting, to place a four-year, $149 tax measure on the Nov. 6 ballot. The tax would be paid annually alongside the $293 parcel tax already in place, with both measures expiring in June 2022.
