Library kicks off final push for expansion fundraising

Kids bounced off the walls at a bounce house and library-goers of all ages got to try out the virtual-reality goggles Oct. 21 as the Belvedere-Tiburon Library kicked off the public phase of fundraising for its planned $18 million, 9,725-square-foot library addition. Library officials plan to go out to bid for the construction contract in January or February and expect to break ground on the addition in the spring, according to Barry Moss, president of the nonprofit Belvedere-Tiburon Library Foundation. The kickoff event was held to educate the community about the status of the project — first approved by the Tiburon Town Council back in 2012, with the downsized plans OK’d in August — and to rally residents around the foundation’s final $4 million fundraising push, with a reported $13.7 million raised so far toward the $18 million goal.
