Tam high district asks voters to OK $149 short-term parcel tax

The Tamalpais Union High School District is asking local property owners for a financial boost — a move officials say is necessary to pull the district back from the brink of insolvency and prevent deep cuts to staff and programs in the coming years. Measure J, a four-year, $149 parcel tax, will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot for consideration by voters within the district’s boundaries, which include all of the Tiburon Peninsula. It would be paid annually alongside a $293 parcel tax already in place, with both measures expiring in June 2022.
