Watchdogs: Anti-Semitic graffiti shows Tiburon ‘not immune’ to hatred

With the nation mourning in the wake of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting Oct. 27, two recent incidents in which anti-Semitic graffiti was found on the Tiburon Peninsula are shedding light on hatred closer to home. Staff members at Bel Aire Elementary School on the morning of Nov. 1 discovered a Star of David spray-painted on the playground next to vulgar graffiti of male genitalia and indecipherable scribbles. In September, locals noticed the words “Jew parking” written in chalk in the parking lot at the Maritime Center, which lies on Tiburon Boulevard just across the street from The Lodge at Tiburon hotel.
