Health officials question source of bacteria off Blackie's Pasture beach

Greenwood Cove and Blackie’s beaches remain off-limits more than a month after a nearby pipe break dumped a reported 670 gallons of raw sewage into a storm drain that empties into Richardson Bay, prompting officials at the Sewerage Agency of Southern Marin and Marin County Environmental Health Services to question if the high bacteria levels in the water could be coming from another source. The sewerage agency has been testing the Richardson Bay waters weekly since the May 17 spill, but so far the tests have failed to turn up the required two clean sets of samples required. The results of the most recent samples, taken June 10, were not available by The Ark’s press deadline.
