Tiburon swimmer earns first at world masters competition in South Korea

Tiburon resident Tate Holt is celebrating a major win this month after he placed first in the 50-meter freestyle swim at the FINA Masters World Championships, held Aug. 5-18 in Gwangju, South Korea. Holt, 68, competed in two other races during this year’s championship, placing sixth in the 50-meter butterfly swim and second in the 100-meter freestyle in the 65- to 69-age-group — narrowly missing first place by three one-hundredths of a second, he says.
