Belvedere residents who attended an informal May 21 housing forum continued to voice concerns about the number of units the city must plan for over the next eight years, saying the increased allocation just doesn’t seem to fit Belvedere.

Just under a dozen residents showed up to the open house at Belvedere Community Park to learn more about the potential sites the city has identified for housing and to ask questions of city officials, including Mayor Sally Wilkinson and Planning Commission Chair Pat Carapiet, and representatives from EMC Planning Group, the Monterey-based consultant Belvedere has hired to lead the update of its housing element.

“Our hope today is to receive input,” said David Masenten of EMC Planning. “The housing element update is a state-mandated policy process, and we want people to be involved in the outcome of that process.”
