Anne-Marie Bonneau says she broke up with plastic in 2011. Her now-grown daughter, Mary Katherine, thinks it was her idea, Bonneau said, but she embraced it with a passion.
“Plastic pollutes all along its life cycle,” Bonneau said.
The “Zero Waste Chef” spoke about her twin passions of reducing food waste and eliminating single-use plastic on May 14 amid the Belvedere-Tiburon Library’s Green Fair, the final day of its inaugural Green Week.
The fair included e-bike and trash-truck demonstrations, a book sale, plant swap, teen garden and kids’ planting corner, with workshops on upcycling crafts and creating your own mini electric car. The longer Green Week included films, kids’ presentations from San Rafael animal hospital WildCare, and talks from a Marine Mammal Center biologist and the author of the “California Field Atlas.”
