Block Captain, concerts volunteer named Belvedere Citizen of the Year

Adam Gavzer says he enjoys finding ways to bring people together — and that’s why he’s devoted much of the past 15 years volunteering in Belvedere.

From organizing annual Coastal Cleanup days to serving on the city’s Concerts in the Park Committee and Block Captains program, Gavzer aims to help cultivate community. For his efforts, the 59-year-old resident has been named Belvedere’s Citizen of the Year for 2021.

“Nobody is more deserving than Adam,” Mayor Sally Wilkinson says. “He contributes a huge amount to our community.”

Gavzer was set to be honored alongside Ann Allen, the city’s 2021 Citizen of the Year Emerita, at Belvedere’s annual Town Meeting next month. However, the city has since postponed the meeting, likely to spring, due to a surge in COVID-19 caused by the omicron variant.
