In inaugural meeting, new diversity task force seeks to hone mission

Tiburon’s newly seated Diversity Inclusion Task Force met for the first time March 10, but the 10-person group is already down a member. Anh Sundstrom, one of five public members appointed to serve on the task force alongside all five members of the Town Council, has withdrawn from the group, citing competing demands of her personal schedule. The Town Council plans to discuss appointing a replacement for Sundstrom, a marketing expert who owns a fashion and lifestyle blog, at its meeting tonight, March 17. The inaugural session of the task force, which plans to hold monthly public meetings, was largely an informal discussion about how the group would function moving forward. The panel, which was formed in the wake of a racially charged incident last summer between three police officers and the Black owners of a Main Street business, was formed to develop recommendations for addressing issues of diversity and inclusion within town government, the Police Department and the greater community.
