When the longtime owners of Sweet Things Bakery at The Cove shopping center, Marsha Lasky and Sharon Leach, retired, they left the business in good hands, selling it to Amanda Michael, owner of San Francisco-based Jane the Bakery, who is known for her stellar reputation in the business.
Under Michael, the bakery has been renovated and rebranded as Jane/Marin, with the Tiburon location becoming the sixth bakery Michael has opened in the past 12 years. She also took over the small Sweet Things shop on California Street in San Francisco — now named Jane/Cal-Mart — and the company’s large San Rafael warehouse.
“We’ve worked hard to maintain the Sweet Things favorites while introducing customers to breads and pastries from Jane,” says Michael, 55. “And we’ve kept all the Sweet Things employees that the locals have come to know and love.”
Michael took over Sweet Things in fall 2022 but waited until June 2023 to renovate the shop, enlarging the space by removing the wall that previously separated the bakery from the Sweet Things at Home shop. The counter was enlarged and moved to the back wall, and several small tables were placed by the entry for customers to sit and relax while enjoying their food and drinks.
