Reed schools foundation works to meet its $2-million end-of-year goal

The Foundation for Reed Schools has so far raised about $1.4 million during its 2020-2021 campaign, about $400,000 less than this time last year — and officials say the next two months will be crucial in determining whether the foundation meets its $2-million commitment to the Reed Union School District. In an April 20 update to the district’s board of trustees, foundation Executive Director Christina Bosch called the drop in pledges “an extremely significant difference.” She attributed it partially to donor attrition, noting there is a lower donor-participation rate this year with families that are new to the district. She also said the coronavirus pandemic has caused division in the district community, as there have been differences of opinion over how the district has handled the pandemic and its impact on student learning.
