Tiburon man spearheads bag-lunch program for homeless

As the COVID-19 pandemic began spreading across the U.S. last spring, Sausalito Presbyterian Church was forced to shut down its kitchen, putting the church’s weekly Wednesday hot lunch program for the homeless in limbo. The church sent out an SOS, asking for volunteers to donate 25 bag lunches per week so the program could continue — and Tiburon resident Jeff Heely stepped up to answer the call. The effort far exceed its goal in its first week, with Heely collecting 82 bagged lunches — and it’s only grown since, with Heely noting volunteers dropped off 250 bagged meals one week in November.
