Tiburon set to tackle revisions to its rejected housing plan

The Tiburon Town Council will meet today, Jan. 18, to discuss changes it will need to make to its eight-year housing blueprint to win the necessary stamp of approval from the state.

Time is running out for the town to be in compliance with state law.

The California Housing and Community Development Department on Dec. 23 issued a letter that broadly rejected the town’s plans to accommodate at least 639 new units for 2023-2031, saying Tiburon has not done enough to demonstrate how it will meet many of its housing goals, including addressing racial and income inequities and providing realistic opportunities for property owners to develop spaces for multifamily housing.
