Faithful foiled in OT

(Naomi Friedland / The Ark)

Local San Francisco 49ers faithful gathered in downtown Tiburon, including at the Tiburon Tavern, on Feb. 11 for Super Bowl LVIII watch parties. The Niners blew a 10-point lead and lost in overtime, 25-22, to the reigning champion Kansas City Chiefs, dashing hopes of their first title since the 1994 season. ‘It was a great game but a sad ending,’ said Tiburon resident Brenden Smith, who watched the game with friends at Cinelounge, which hosted public and private parties. ‘It’s just sad. We were so close,’ added Patrick McNerney of Tiburon. ‘We could’ve won. We should’ve won.’
