Jean Johnston Oller

Jean Johnston Oller (G.G.) passed away peacefully Sept. 15, 2023, with her family by her side at The Tamalpais in Greenbrae, California at 101 years old!

Jean was born April 21, 1922, in Marysville, California. She was the oldest of the “three Johnston girls” who moved to Belvedere in 1939. Jean and her sisters attended the University of Oregon, where they were members of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Jean married Richard H. Oller Jr. in 1948. She was predeceased by her husband, Dick, and her daughter Carolyn. She managed the Belvedere Tennis Club for more than 20 years before her retirement. Jean loved Belvedere and looked forward to her Sunday afternoon monthly volunteering at the China Cabin. She played bridge well into her 90s with many friends.

Jean is survived by her daughter Betsy Barrar (Jack), granddaughter Anne Myers (Robert), grandson Richard Barrar (Katherine), and great-grandchildren Josephine and Halsey Myers. Jean will be missed by her nieces and nephew who live in Marin as well as all her friends in Belvedere and at The Tamalpais. She had a fabulous 100th birthday celebration at the San Francisco Yacht Club with family and friends.

The family truly appreciates the exemplary care Mom received at The Tamalpais Health Center. She loved all of the staff. Her immediate family is here in Tiburon from the East Coast this week to celebrate, honor, and remember her. We miss you G.G.! We will raise a toast to you!
