McKegney dog ban should be permanent, but booze ban lifted, officials say

Dogs may be banned from McKegney Green — and an alcohol ban lifted — under proposed changes to the field’s use policy.

Tiburon’s Parks, Open Space and Trails Commission on May 18 voted to forward those recommendations and others to the Town Council as part of a town-staff-initiated request for the commission to review Tiburon’s field-use policy, which hasn’t had a major update since 2014.

The commission also recommended the council ban pickup games of golf, rugby and other sports that can put divots in the field that the town spent $2 million to reconstruct just two years ago. Golf has been limited to soft, whiffle-type balls used in youth classes offered by The Ranch, Tiburon and Belvedere’s joint-recreation agency, though that would be banned as well.
