Tiburon diversity panel turns attention to strategic plan to guide work

Tiburon’s diversity committee has developed a draft strategic plan to help guide its equity initiatives in policing, staffing and community building.


The Diversity Inclusion Task Force voted 8-0 at its Sept. 13 meeting to approve the draft document and form three ad hoc committees based on the task force’s outlined work priorities: Tiburon’s policing in both structure and practice, how Town Hall staffs and analyzes its employees and how to best engage and educate the community.


The strategic plan is an effort to provide “substantiated recommendations” to the Town Council “to address implicit bias and explicit biases that are difficult to detect,” according to the draft document.
