Tiburon to work with task force to recruit a diversity consultant

Three Diversity Inclusion Task Force members will team up with Tiburon officials to help define how the town wants to examine equity in its hiring practices.


Task-force members Leela Stake, Karen Carrera and Ruben Kalra will work with Town Manager Greg Chanis and Director of Administrative Services Suzanne Creekmore to help craft a proposal that will be used in recruiting a consultant to assess diversity in town employment.


About 76 percent of the current employees are white, down from about 87 percent in 2016. About 19 percent of the employees identify as Latino, 2.7 percent are of Middle Eastern ancestry and 2.7 percent are of Asian ancestry. The town has no Black employees. About 32 percent of the staff is women, up from about 26 percent since 2016.
