Syliva Holtz Jacob

Sylvia passed away peacefully at Marin General Hospital on April 9, 2018, three days after she turned 86, with her niece Marge Lewis at her side.

She was born in Petaluma, California, to Albert and Pauline Holtz and lived there until she attended college; first at UC Berkeley and then San Francisco State, where she graduated with a degree in marketing.

After graduation, she went into advertising, where she met and later married the love of her life, William (Bill) Jacob. They lived in Mill Valley, Larkspur and then finally settled in Tiburon. Bill passed away in 2011. She never got over his loss. They both loved dogs, especially standard poodles, and had several throughout their time together.

After advertising, Sylvia worked in real estate in Marin County and made many good friends during that time. She enjoyed her work and the people she came into contact with. She prided herself in her appearance and was always smartly dressed.

She was an avid reader of mysteries and always had a stack of books on her bedside table. As the years went on her sight deteriorated and she discovered books on tape. She loved the Belvedere-Tiburon Library, where she received a lot of help with book selections.

Her family was small and very important to her. She was especially close to her late sister, Betty Kramar. Sylvia is survived by her loving family: niece Marge Lewis, great-nephew Brian Lewis (Alicia) and their children, Henry and Sydney. She will be sorely missed.
