Strawberry to see 14-percent garbage-rate hike

Mill Valley Refuse Service customers in Strawberry will see their rates go up by more than 14 percent begin- ning in July — largely due to new recycling restrictions being implemented on the other side of the world.

The 14.71-percent hike, which the Strawberry Recreation District board of directors approved 4-1 at its June 12 meeting, will result in customers paying anywhere from about $11 to about $27 more for weekly garbage, recycling and compost pick-up under the ser- vice’s quarterly billing cycle, depend- ing on the number and size of garbage cans they have. A customer with one 32-gallon garbage can will see their quarterly bill increase to $105.99 from $92.40.
