Marin Shakespeare succeeds with production of ‘Pericles’

Theater seasons come and go, but most of them pass without productions of “Pericles,” even among long-term pros like the Marin Shakespeare Co. The play has a doubtful reputation and parentage. It was probably not entirely written by William Shakespeare and was not included in the First Folio of Shakespeare’s works. Scholars on the subject suggest Shakespeare probably wrote only about half of it. The rest might have been composed by George Wilkins. It comes with a wandering, improbable story line and a shortage of the Bard’s beautiful language. However, the finished script, as produced by Marin Shakespeare Co., is not short on spectacle.
