Residents back utility-burying district in Belvedere

Residents and businesses in Belvedere’s Acacia-Laurel Utility Undergrounding District have officially voted to assess themselves more than $3 million and begin burying utility wires in the neighborhood. With votes weighted depending on how much a parcel was assessed, just over 64 percent of ballots cast in the district were in favor of assessing the property tax, which is typically paid off over a 30-year period. The results of the vote were tabulated and announced at a special meeting of the City Council Aug. 27. (Matthew Hose photo)
