Sheila McFadden Ali

Sheila Ann McFadden Ali, a 46-year resident of Tiburon, died October 28, 2018, after a short but intense battle with lung cancer. She was 81 years old.

Sheila Ann McFadden was born in Scranton, Penn., and raised in Pelham, N.Y. She was the oldest of six children. She attended and graduated from New Rochelle Hospital School of Nursing in October 1958. In 1960, she moved to San Francisco, where she continued nursing in both emergency medicine and cardiac research until she married her husband of 39 years, the late Dr. Muhammad “Mo” Aswaq Ali in September 1966.

She and her husband raised their two children, Shereen and Rajak, in Tiburon, where Sheila was deeply involved in volunteering for the schools, the Guilds of Marin, the Marin County Clerk’s Office and the San Francisco Visitors Bureau. When she moved to The Redwoods in Mill Valley, Sheila was a contributing member of the Mill Valley Seniors Club for nearly ten years before moving to Petaluma to be closer to her youngest grandson. Her passions included knitting, reading, rooting for the San Francisco Giants and 49ers and the Stanford Cardinal football team, and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Sheila is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shereen and Brent Welling of Lafayette; her son and daughter-in-law, Rajak and Kari Ali of Petaluma; and two grandsons, Taylor and Mason.

Donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of Petaluma, 416 Payran St., Petaluma, CA 94952, 707-778-6242, or www.sonomacountyhospice.org.
