Future rec center site? Tiburon eyeing part of property between Blackie’s, McKegney


A fledgling idea to build a recreation center or community pool between Blackie’s Pasture and McKegney Green appears to be gaining traction as the town of Tiburon has entered negotiations to acquire some property from the landowner, the Richardson Bay Sanitary District. The four parcels being eyed by the town are on the southeast side of the property, adjacent to McKegney Green and playing field, and are now occupied by four briny settlement ponds, which have provided treated wastewater sold to the town to irrigate McKegney Field. But as part of the field’s recent $2 million reconstruction, the irrigation has been changed and the grass will now use fresh water.
