Camp challenges Bel Aire Elementary School students to build community, embrace diversity


In a five-day, four-night camp it calls the Outdoor Project, the Oakland-based nonprofit Mosaic Project brings kids from varied backgrounds together to learn about diversity, empathy and conflict resolution. Bel Aire has sent at least some of its fourth-graders to the camp over the past several years, but this is the first year all seven of its fourth-grade classes will have the chance to attend.
