Carol Weiss started drawing when she was 75 years old, just three years younger than American folk painter Grandma Moses was when she began creating her famous artistic scenes in earnest. The Tiburon artist’s first painting was of a live model at a two-day weekend portrait-drawing class. She then checked out a few how-to books at the library. With everyday practice, she got better — and because she enjoyed drawing so much, she wanted others to experience the joy of art. Since 2012, Weiss and friend Joan Bergsund have been holding free, drop-in plein-air workshops at the Landmarks Art & Garden Center where people can create whatever kind of art they choose.
