Driving force behind Marin Tremors helps players with softball, life skills

January 10, 2019

Murray Dunn first got involved with Marin Girls Softball when his two daughters, Addison and Amelie, started playing Tiburon Girls Softball, one of the districts within the Marin league. He started out cheering on his daughters from the sidelines and then eventually began coaching their teams. As he began looking at various resources to refine and improve his coaching techniques, he was struck by what he learned. “I became somewhat fascinated with all the research that exists on the power and impact of girls participating in team sports,” says Dunn, 50. That research has shown team sports can positively affect girls’ self-esteem and body image and can lower their risk of depression and of becoming involved with drugs, among other benefits.
