Bel Aire geography bee winner now looks to qualify for state


Bel Aire Elementary School fifth-grader Lukas Berger beat out 36 other students to win his school’s geography bee in the first round of competition in National Geographic’s annual GeoBee. Lukas won the Feb. 1 final round over runner-up fifth-graders Mark Xu and Rhett Krawitt by correctly answering “fjord” to the tie-breaking question: “What is the Norwegian term for a long, narrow sea inlet carved out by a glacier?”
