PG&E says forced outages could last five days at a time

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. is warning customers on the Tiburon Peninsula and throughout Marin to prepare for forced power outages that could last up to five days at a time this fire season as the electric company expands efforts to prevent wildfires during extremely dry and windy weather. The utility twice shut off power last year for extreme weather — neither time affecting Marin County — but PG&E officials say customers should expect an increased number of outages this wildfire season that could leave larger swaths in the dark.
