Break in Tiburon spews at least 670 gallons of sewage into Richardson Bay

A May 17 sewer-main break just west of Blackie’s Pasture spewed thousands of gallons of raw sewage onto the street and down into the stormwater drainage system, with at least 670 gallons of sewage making its way into Richardson Bay wildlife sanctuary waters before the spill could be contained. Signs at Greenwood Beach Cove and the beach at Blackie’s Pasture telling people to keep off the beach and out of the water will remain in place until lab analysis of water samples show bacteria levels are at an acceptably low level, according to Marin Environmental Health Services Supervisor David Smail.
