Belvedere OKs hike to garbage rates, switch to dual-stream recycling


Garbage and recycling rates in Belvedere are set to increase by 3.93 percent starting July 1, while city officials have also OK’d a permanent switch to a dual-stream recycling method that would require Belvedere residents to continue separating paper products from other recyclables in an effort to curtail the amount of contaminated paper that ends up in landfills. The Belvedere City Council voted unanimously at its June 10 meeting to approve the rate increase and allow Mill Valley Refuse Service to make the switch to dual-stream.
