Belvedere-Tiburon Library puts long-awaited expansion project out to bid

The Belvedere-Tiburon Library has gone out to bid for its projected $17 million expansion plan to enhance its children’s, teen and adult libraries and to add new administrative areas and conference rooms. By Sept. 10, when received bids are to be unsealed, leaders of the expansion effort will know whether the funds available will cover the cost. Nine contractors attended a mandatory walk-through on Aug. 21, according to Project Manager Glenn Isaacson. If the bids come in under the budget, construction on the 8,617-square-foot expansion — which would bring the existing 10,500-square-foot building to 19,117 square feet — would begin at the end of September or in early October.
