Tiburon cancer survivor leads fundraising to launch yoga program at Benioff hospital

September 6, 2019

Seventeen-year-old Zoe Babikian, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma just over a year ago, found special comfort from nurse Kate Danziger during her initial stay at the University of California at San Francisco’s Benioff Children’s Hospital. To help calm Zoe during her treatments, Danziger, a certified yoga instructor, held her hand and walked her through some breathing exercises — techniques she would continue to use through her 12 chemotherapy sessions. Now Zoe is leading efforts to raise $100,000 to launch a two-year yoga and breath-work pilot program, to be led by Danziger, to serve patients and families in the pediatric oncology and bone-marrow transplant units.
