Belvedere-Tiburon Library extends construction bidding after town reaches parking deal

Two daily-parking lots near Town Hall will offer short-term parking for use by town employees and the public under a new agreement between Tiburon and the lots’ owner. In addition to helping with the downtown parking crunch, particularly during special events, use of the Tiburon Boulevard lot between Town Hall and Chase Bank will count toward parking requirements for the Belvedere-Tiburon Library as it seeks to begin construction on its 8,716-square-foot addition. With the new parking availability, library officials now say they can potentially defer construction of the relocated lot until after the addition is built, rather than before. As a result, officials are extending the bidding deadline for construction to allow time for a more complex bid that includes the new option. Bids, which went out Aug. 10, are now expected to be unsealed Sept. 17.
