Belvedere-Tiburon Library could feel double blow from sanitary district fees

Just days before the Belvedere-Tiburon Library was granted the required permits to begin construction on its expansion project, the Sanitary District No. 5 of Marin board of directors denied the library’s request for a waiver of a $16,746 connection fee for associated sewer-line work. The decision could deal a second, harsher blow to the library, as the debate over whether it was included in a five-year-old deal between the sanitary district and town of Tiburon apparently exposed that the library hasn’t been paying annual sewer-service fees for waste treatment — fees that San 5’s attorney says the library should have been paying and that the district is now investigating.
