A final look at offices, initiatives on March 3 ballot

California’s primary is next week, on March 3, though voting is already underway. Locally, the election includes three-way races for the Tiburon Town Council and for Southern Marin supervisor, as well as several ballot measures: county and Belvedere fire taxes, a school parcel tax, a tax to fund Sonoma-Marin’s commuter-rail system, and a battle over use of the former San Geronimo Valley Golf Course. Voters in Tiburon, Belvedere and Strawberry will also help pick the Democrat who will challenge President Donald Trump in the November general election, will help select the top two U.S. Congressional and state Assembly candidates to advance to November run-offs, and will help decide whether California should sell $15 billion in bonds to fund improvements to public schools.
