Seniors, who are at highest risk, feel impact of being isolated at home

It’s been more than two weeks since Jarvis Jones has left her house on Ned’s Way. As the threat of coronavirus started to intensify across Marin County, the 72-year-old designer and artist, who has chronic respiratory and kidney disease, began taking precautions to protect herself. “I started early because I have pre-existing conditions,” Jarvis said. Marin is one of six Bay Area counties ordered to shelter-in-place through at least April 7 in an effort to help curb the spread of the virus, which is particularly dangerous to older adults and those with pre-existing conditions. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, eight out of 10 deaths reported from the virus in the U.S. have been in seniors ages 65 and older.
