Four Tiburon Ridge trails aren’t public, appeals court rules

Four scenic hiking trails that crisscross 110 acres of undeveloped private property above downtown Tiburon are not open for public use, according to a ruling by a state appeals court. The unanimous decision issued Oct. 23 by the three-judge panel of the 1st District Court of Appeal in San Francisco affirms an earlier verdict of the Marin Superior Court in favor of The Martha Co., delivering the latest blow to local open-space group Tiburon-Belvedere Residents United to Support the Trails, or Trust, which is now considering whether to take the case to the California Supreme Court.
