Tiburon school cohort is notified of ‘close contact’ with case of COVID-19

The families of one fifth-grade cohort at Bel Aire Elementary School were notified last week that someone in the group had been in “close contact” with a person who tested positive for COVID-19. In a Nov. 2 email shared with The Ark by a parent, Bel Aire Principal Lexie Cala told parents the staff member or student in question is currently quarantining with their immediate family members, monitoring for symptoms and working with their health-care provider on next steps, “including testing if advised.” Cala said the school was notified of the close contact — defined as being within 6 feet of someone who has COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more — by county public-health officials.
