Resident Steve Silberstein discusses Protect Belvedere — a proposed $28-million critical-infrastructure and seawall-raising plan — with Mayor Sally Wilkinson during a project-walkthrough event on March 13 at Community Park.

Officials and advisers were on hand to discuss the project, which focuses on the reinforcement of San Rafael Avenue to the north and Beach Road to the south, as the two arteries to Belvedere contain power, water, sewage and internet lines that serve the entire city.

The project would include raising the seawalls to protect against storm events and sea rise.

The city is seeking to place a real-estate transfer tax on the November ballot for voter approval.

For more about the project, visit; the City Council plans its next public hearings on the project at 5:30 p.m. March 22 and 6:30 p.m. April 21.
