Belvedere to move forward with rubber playground surface

Belvedere officials say they plan to hold a special meeting in February to address residents’ concerns about the presence of potential cancer-causing toxins in a pour-in-place rubber surface slated for the Community Park playground. The Parks and Open Space Committee briefly discussed the issue at its Jan. 14 teleconference meeting, deeming the rubber surface material the safest option for the coming renovation. Parks committee Chair Bryan Kemnitzer announced Jan. 15 the group would hold a special information session on the rubber surface material before moving forward with its installation.
